Water Penetration Testing

Consequences of water leaks in building can range for minor staining to extreme cases of mold growth, wall component corrosion, and even wall failures.

IBES provides a range of testing services that can ensure that certain building components are water tight.  These tests can identify water penetration points and allowing them to be properly sealed.  The tests are best suited to verify that wall and glazing components have been assembled according to the manufacturers instructions and adhere to the architectural specifications for new constructions.  The test can also be used to locate the source of water leaks when they are observed in existing buildings.

All tests are conducted  in accordance with well-known and accepted industry testing standard procedures.  Examples of some utilized testing standards are:

  • AAMA 501.2 Quality Assurance and Diagnostic Water Leakage Field Check of Installed Storefronts, Curtain Walls, and Sloped Glazing Systems
  • ASTM E1105 Standard Test Method for Field Determination of Water Penetration of Installed Exterior Windows, Skylights, Doors, and Curtain Walls, by Uniform or Cyclic Static Air Pressure Difference
